Due to the coronavirus pandemic, California Governor Gavin Newsom and state health officials have asked all citizens to shelter in place. To help prevent the spread of the virus, many cities and counties have suspended in person domestic violence psycho-education groups. I contracted with a local agency in my community to facilitate one such group that was suspended. Keeping citizens safe from the COVID-19 virus is a necessity. Please shelter in place.

The demand for domestic violence education and prevention never stops. As a service to our community, I am offering a free, online, coed, intimate partner violence psycho-education group to anyone interested in attending. This group is not certified by any probation department and, at this time, is not recognized as a substitute for a court-certified psycho-education group for domestic violence. That might change in the future, but currently, if you are court-mandated to attend a certified psycho-education group for domestic violence, your participation in this group will not meet that requirement nor will it count toward any classes you are required to attend as a condition of probation.

Sheltering in place is difficult in general, but sheltering in place without a good understanding of emotional, verbal, or physical violence is impossible and could expose you and/or your family to COVID-19 or other unnecessary hardships.
